How To Add Content To Your Website

Digging into last week’s blog (Simple SEO Steps…), lets talk about content a bit.

One of the questions I hear most from customers is “what content do I want to put on my website?”.

It is actually an easy question to answer, it just takes a little bit of discussion about your business and the content rises to the surface.

The best place to start is to think about what makes your business different from your competitors. It is usually pretty easy to describe what your business does, but it is likely that you are not the only one doing that type of business in your area. What makes you different? That answer is what you want to feature in your content. Let your customers know why they should be visiting you, your business and your website.

Education is a great way to add content to your website and continue to add content on a weekly or monthly basis. Think about questions that you routinely hear from your customers. Those are the questions you want to answer and expand on in your blogs. An example would be this blog that you are reading now, and hopefully enjoying. The main focus of this series of blogs is to provide information so that businesses have ideas on making their websites work for them.

Show off a bit and talk about success. You don’t have to brag, but let future customers know how you have helped your current customers. With the knowledge that you are successful in making others successful, a prospective customer will want to get in on the action. Include pictures if they are relevant and explain the process of working on a project and how it will help the customer. A short interview with your customer regarding a project is another option.

Expand on services and products with photos/videos, case studies and customer testimonials. Don’t forget that people may be visiting your site to learn about a product or service. The more information that you can give them could sway them to make the purchase decision as they are on your site. If they are not getting the information they need, they may end up at your competitor’s site.
